Body therapy is about the links between the body and spirit, links which have been known from time immemorial, forgotten with the advent of medicine, but then rediscovered actively anew today. It is a broad, global, humanist approach which takes into account the different dimensions of the human being – physical, intellectual, emotional – in relation to the environment.
Recent research has confirmed that stress and anxiety are responsible or co-responsible for physical imbalances and some malfunctions or illnesses. The answer to stress is innate, biologically ingrained in us, but you have to acquire and develop the response to (psychological and physical) relaxation; the patient will be able to learn this, with the appropriate psycho-physical help.
The initial objective of body therapy is therefore physical relaxation. As this correlates to a release of psychological tensions, the management of anxiety and pain will be facilitated by it and will thus block the stress process and pave the way for working on the psychological aspects.
Being aware of, or improving, the perception of one’s body, establishing a better image of oneself or being able to unwind will be done via relaxation, breathing, a near-hypnotic approach, massages or stretching.
The method will be chosen according to the grievances, background and personality of the patient.
